An Afternoon for Eating Steaks

For those of you wondering how the Fairies VS Sasquatches mediation went, it was Sasquatches: 3, Fairies: 2, Doc: ready for a long nap by the time he got home.

We are at my cousin Dale's ranch outside the town of Ely, Nevada. We rolled in here about 6:30 in the morning after leaving home around 11:00 last night. As I have said in past blogs over the years, driving across Nevada now is a hell of a lot more interesting than it was pre-Change. All of those spring fed lakes and the creeks that empty them into the Colorado river make a big difference.

We encountered no problems and the truck (the same 1957 Chevy that my Uncle Carl bought brand new and I have owned since 1970) ran great. The new Lunar built electric drive system just rocks and has plenty of power. A bit pricey at CU20,000, but worth it now that what little gas & oil were left post Change is drying up.

Dale and his crew are fixing to cook up some huge steaks (Roscoe may never want to leave here) and his wife Josie is cranking out a wide variety of Mexican side dishes. Hell, I may not want to leave!

Tomorrow, we are back on the road to Denver. Should roll in sometime in the late afternoon.
