Iowa "Mutants R Us!"

After the brave warriors of the Terran Defense Force fought off the third invasion attempt (August, 2144) by the Venusian Reptoids, it was found that Reptoid terrorists had managed to release Yizon 88 gas in the North American state of Iowa. This vile Venusian creation almost instantly began mutating humans. Fortunately, quick thinking by Homeworld Security allowed the entire state to be cordoned of by force fields until the gas had dissipated. After that, it was found that 75,307 Iowans had been mutated. Interestingly, a full 64% of these mutations showed great potential for military/industrial use. Naturally, Our Glorious Leaders seized this opportunity and ran with it.

Now, thirty years later, our brave troops contain a large proportion of mutants fighting alongside Pure Humans, cyborgs, robots and selected Non-Humanoid Terran Species. Many mutants have moved up into the higher ranks of non-coms and even more have been decorated for their courage in battle.

Though still cordoned off, Iowa is perhaps the most valuable state in the North American Group. As a breeding and testing ground for mutants, it is one of our most valuable resources in the battle against aliens, the Asian Alliance and the dreaded California Hippies. The former unmutated humans who were relocated from Iowa can be proud that their state serves a greater purpose now than mere agriculture (although it is still an important farming state, since mutants need to eat, too).
