Spotty Jones

Spotty Jones is a streetwise young pup and the leader of the Barker Street Irregulars, a group of young dogs who prowl the streets of London and often offer choice information to the Great Detective, Hamhock Bones. Nowadays (1930), the master sleuth needs a bit more help in the legwork area than he did in his prime 40 years ago. Spotty and his mates are more than willing to help out.

Spotty lives with his mum and dad in an old abandoned home on a street called Dog Lane. Several other canine families live there or in the outbuildings. Being only 3 blocks from a street full of butchers, bakers, fishmongers and greengrocers, life is pretty good. Still, Spotty and the other Irregulars are often away from home for days at a time. Adventure beats a warm bed and regular meals anytime!

Unbeknownst to his mother or many of the other mothers, Spotty and his pals get a bit of training from some of the dads. For example, Runner Jones, a full bred Dalmatian, was for many years a firehouse dog. His good friend, an Airedale named Punch McNally, was in the army During the Great War. Other doggie dads have other experience that they pass on to the pups "so ye can 'elp Mr. Bones wif 'is good work." This includes physical training, fighting techniques and, most importantly, evasion of pursuit by both humans and other animals. All of this training, combined with their hard learned lessons in the allies & streets, have made the Barker Street Irregulars one tough bunch of mutts.

Spotty Jones is a young Dalmatian/Border Collie mix. His build is like his father's, but his black with white spots coat is a bit longer and he has a Border Collie face. Like his mum, he has one blue eye and one brown eye. Spotty weighs about 40 pounds.

Spotty's best mate is Red Diggerson, a 25 pound terrier mix who is a bit impulsive at times. When he's not out looking for trouble, Spotty likes to sleep, chew bones and read the adventures of Professor Rex Barker, the globe trotting American hero. Spotty has 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is not much interested in girls yet, although that cute little Springer Spaniel a few blocks over is, you know, not bad for a girl.
